Evangelism & Discipleship
Unreached
Many areas of East and Central Africa are home to unreached people groups. In Northern Kenya, the Gabbra are less than 1% evangelical Christian. Many have never heard the name of Jesus. Hearing the Bible on audio Scriptures, the radio, or watching the Jesus Film is often the first interaction with the Gospel story for people in these areas. Local evangelists and radio broadcasters serve on the front lines to reach these areas and to bring discipleship to the people.
New Life
Sharing the Gospel with those with no background involves repeating the message of the Bible in many ways. Leaning on the Scripture as the textbook , evangelism efforts often require trips to remote places and relationship building. Radio ministry allows the Word to spread to remote places, particularly in areas where some are hostile to the message. Midwifery often opens doors in families with little interest in the Church, by allowing for deeper relationships during a vulnerable time in the family.
In 2015, Eddie walked in to the office of Paul Land, a long time friend and supporter of missions work. While discussing the ministry of Dukana, Paul asked Eddie what he knew about radio. Eddie was able to pull up a proposal for a radio studio and tower that would broadcast across much of Northern Kenya, reaching Gabbra, Samburu, Borana, and Rendille tribes. Paul wrote a check that day to begin BHB Chalbi, a radio outreach of Dukana, Kenya. Since that time, two more towers have been built with two radio frequencies, reaching some of the most difficult to reach people in the world.
Rachel caught her first baby in Kalacha in 2014. Although she did not have a medical background, doors opened for her to being studying with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute. She became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator in 2016 and in 2019 obtained her Certification as a Professional Midwife and midwifery license. She completed her Bachelor's of Science in Midwifery in 2024. Midwifery opens doors into people's homes from a wide range of cultures and religious background.
